Christie’s Jewel Auction

Two colored diamonds raked in $10.3 million at Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction Tuesday. Among the items up for sale? The diamond engagement ring given to Kim Kardashian by ex-husband Kris Humphries.

Humphries’ ring (pictured), originally purchased for $2 millions, sold for $749,000 and was the 12th highest result in the sale. The top lots, out of 389 offered, were two fancy colored diamonds:

  • An 8.77-carat fancy intense pink VVS1 diamond. The rectangular-cut jewel sold for more than $6.3 million.
  • A 3.81-carat fancy vivid blue VS1 diamond. The rectangular-cut jewel sold for nearly $4 million.

Among other top lots were a 25.30-carat D color VVS1 diamond that sold for $3.1 million, a 15.88-carat Kashmir sapphire that sold for over $1.8 million, and a 17-carat F color VS1 diamond that sold for over $1.2 million.

The auction was marked by a number of big-ticket items that failed to sell, including an 18k pink cold and platinum ring set, a 37.20-carat fancy deep brown-yellow diamond mounted in rose gold, and an 11.70-carat diamond mounted in platinum.

The auction took in more than $46.6 million with 75 percent of the items sold by lot and 85 percent sold by value.
